I have spent the last week working on my new venture. I have put everything in place. I formed the LLC, I got my business license, I have the insurance being looked into and I am really excited. I think this will really take off, but its a new concept so who knows. Working at the shoe repair shop has been enlightening.  I must explain, the shoes we deal with are all high end shoes. As such, certain amount of care is necessary. Bill is probably the best in town at what he does (which is why I wanted to learn from him). However, he cannot turn a pair of Aldo shoes into Gucci. Further, some of us women, take in such battered and beaten shoes and expect miracles. As far as I am aware, there have not been any miracle workers here on earth.

I am about as passionate about my shoes as they come. I spend my hard earned money on shoes, a ritual my ex can still not comprehend. That being said, a minor error in fixing the shoes or a bag is not cancer but to hear some of these women you would think it was. For instance, one woman came in with a Bally suede bag. It was supposed to be ready to be picked up on a Saturday AFTER 5PM. She had a bunch of other things done as well. Her husband comes in to pick everything up at noon on Saturday. LUCKILY most of it was done, but the bag was not. He left. She comes storming in yelling at everyone saying how all the things should be together and ready to go. Well, the bag was still wet and still needed to be brushed, but she insisted on taking it. Low and behold when it dried it was stiff. She comes back SCREAMING. Bill kindly explained it had to be brushed. Now remember, not only did they come to pick it up early, but she insisted on taking it before it was completed.

Another lovely customer INSISTED that the store was closed on a Tuesday at 5:40 PM when she came to pick up her shoes. She was snooty and irate about it saying there were four people waiting outside.  Well, we know the shop never closes before six, but you can't convince someone who won't listen. That being said, Angie, Bill's wife, rewound the security tape. There this woman was at 6:15 outside the door with ONE other person. Hello, look at the sign it says CLOSE AT 6PM!

I understand that people who act like that are usually miserable about something in their own life or just simply had a bad day and their actions are transference of emotion, but people PLEASE, ITS NOT CANCER!
